We are proud to announce that Yudong Chen has been awarded 1st place in the Best Poster Award at the 7th UTA Photonics Workshop and Showcase, held on February 14, 2025, at Nedderman Hall.

Yudong’s research on photonic crystal slab metalenses stood out among 24 poster presentations, earning him this prestigious recognition. Below is a summary of his award-winning work:

Title: Photonic Crystal Slab Metalens on an Ultra-Thin Amorphous Silicon Platform

Abstract: This study presents an innovative ultra-thin metalens design utilizing photonic crystal slab (PCS) resonance modes. By implementing PCS resonance on an amorphous silicon-on-quartz platform, the team successfully demonstrated a focusing metalens phase plate through experimental validation.
